The spirit of modernisation at the beginning of the twentieth century manifested itself in a proliferation of radical avant-garde groups who revolutionised the concept of art and created an inestimable impact on civilisation. This uniquely fertile period of cultural development occurred in a rapid exchange of conflicting but highly influential ideologies pronounced by groups across Europe, such as Cubism, Futurism, and Constructivism. Despite the diversity of styles that emerged, they were all unified by the epochal Modernist paradigm of progression and desire for the ultimate aesthetic resolution.
